“It is a serious thing
just to be alive
on this fresh morning
in the broken world.”
– Mary Oliver
There is no story here. There is only an accumulation, a record of what’s noticed by one human for an indefinite period. I continue to walk here.
This open-ended project began with the Pandemic in 2020. Over time, walking and observing and picturing became more than an attempt to address health concerns, the consequences of sedentary, screen-focused isolation.
It is a continuous flow of external exposures: reaction, treatment, therapy, defense, record. Purposeful, without goals – a daily, weekly assertion of my aliveness in an environment unaffected by my own existence or will – suspending a knowledge of my reality under construction. I am attentive, moving through the physical world without a plan, yet with an intent that allows no knowledge of the consequences. I am propelled by will alone, all the while inhaling and accumulating evidence of ever-new vistas and encounters, without a soundtrack or voiceover narrating the flow.
